So… these were a flop in my house. And 2/3 of my neighbor’s kids didn’t like them either. Good thing we live on a circle with several families so I can pawn off my cooking flops.
I thought they were good. I am not sure why the kids didn’t like them. They had great flavor and I liked the different textures between the apple sauce and the “dough” part.
Modifications:
-I used the dough blade on my food processor to mix it together and it worked well.
-I replaced the brown sugar with maple syrup and used less. It made the dough really soft so I had to pat it out in my hands and lay it on top. It worked but made it a little harder.
-I would absolutely make these again with homemade apple sauce next time if the kids would eat them.
