Lunch Box

G started kindergarten this year and we never had to really pack lunches before. I searched for a long time before I settled on the system we purchased. If I had to do it all over again, I might get 2 systems but we have so much from this system, I can’t justify spending more money and taking up more kitchen space.

Things I was looking for:

-A complete system that all fit neatly together

-individually sealed compartments

-Dishwasher safe (I almost made this happen. The lids are not dishwasher safe)

-I really wanted stainless steal but they are expensive and I couldn’t find ones that had individually sealed compartments.

Here’s what we have.

We have several of this size but I find they are too big for a 2 and 5 year old. So they don’t get used often.

The snack size is my favorite for now. I send one for lunch and one with snack. But I am pretty sure she opens both at lunch and finishes whatever she wants at snack time. Oh well… she’s fed.

I have their Thermos as well. If you put boiling water in it for a few minutes before you add hot food, it’s still warm by lunch.

We were lucky and the grandparents bought several of Kinsho Kitchen’s Sets before school started so we have their lunch box, too. It fits one of the large bento boxes, 2 small, or small + thermos.

I think their ice packs are too small so we have these. I put 2 in the lunch box and they are still cool when they get home!

We have several brands of pouches so I can send homemade smoothies or apple sauce. These are my favorite.

I almost forgot! We use Mabel’s Labels on everything! So far they are surviving and still look brand new!

So far, they have been working really well for us! G can open everything on her own. Sometimes the thermos is tricky.
